The millennium-spot is an action of the campaign “DEINE STIMME GEGEN ARMUT” ("YOUR VOICE AGAINST POVERTY”). The aim of the millennium-spot is to put pressure on the Federal Government so that Germany uses its historic chance in the year 2007.
The EU presidency in the first half year 2007 and the G8 summit in Heiligendamm (6th to 8th June 2007) provide a unique opportunity for Germany jointly with other G8 nations to take concrete measures in the fight against global poverty. Other aims are:
- More and better aid
- fair trade
- debt relief for the poorest countries
- good governance and public accountability
The millennium-spot is supported by well known celebreties like Herbert Groenemeyer, Claudia Schiffer, George Clooney and many others who campaign against the serious issue that every three seconds a child dies at as a consequence of extreme poverty.
They ask you to raise your voice against poverty. In the millennium-spot, anyone and everyone can join in by uploading their film. The material will be used with the existing celebrity-sequences together with other campaign actions at the G8 summit 2007.
